So I made a funny video.
I was bored, had 20 mins spare, and decided to take an animated gif i'd found at www.cuteoverload.com and put a soundtrack to it.
I made it for a few friends and the users of B3ta, two weeks later, i've had over a million views, it's been on tv in Poland, Italy, UK, Australia, Brazil and of course the US.

Vroom-Splat

Mostly today I was rather embarrassed.
On exiting from my local shops (are they local?, yes they are), I cut through the carpark. Just as I was getting to the entrance a car came round the corner heading, roughly, in my direction. Neither of us were moving particularly fast, so as long as one of us reacted we would be fine.
He didn’t react at all.
He was early 30’s, no facial hair (not even eyebrows), had a perfectly smooth bald head and an evenly tanned complexion.
Also, he was wearing a bright orange shirt.
I, of course, mistook him for a crash test dummy and freaked out accordingly.

Mum: Hello son, its your Mum calling

Me: Mum? Its 8pm here..

Mum: I know, its ten to nine in the morning over here, I’m just getting ready for work and thought I would give you a quick call

Me: I see.

Mum: I’ve been trying to call you but you’re never in, I wish you’d use an answer phone

Me: I use email mum, I built you a computer. You went on a course. I’m on email all the time.

I had sushi for lunch today, it was very nice, I also realised why I like it so much. Its because I feel like I’m a big Japanese monster and with my terrible wooden antenna I can destroy whole sushi cities with a single bite!

Visa+doctor=confusion

This morning I had a medical for my residency visa. This included urine, x-rays, general poking and an HIV test.
We didn't get off to a good start, the nurse taking the blood was from Latvia and had a thick accent (you'll have to do the accents yourselves).
I'm sitting in the room, rather nevous with my sleeve rolled up, signing some consent forms...she says:
"I'm going to take some blood now"
"ok"
"It will be tested for HIV, do you understand?"

Cultural Differences

So I live in a country that I wasn’t born in, didn’t grow up in and hadn’t ever visited until about 5 years ago. I didn’t come from a culture that different, we share the same language and Royal family even. However, every so often I get caught out by little differences. Take this evening for example, I’d made a lovely meal for my partner, and we ate it with some nice wine and candlelight. As I was clearing the plates away I felt my lovers arms encircle me and a soft voice murmur “Would you like some Almond fingers?”.
